Job Overview
This role will be responsible for overseeing the engineering stores, working closely with suppliers, and ensuring smooth delivery of all parts and components in a timely fashion. The role will assist the maintenance team in delivering a world-class engineering environment, ensuring site scorecard measures are achieved and supporting the team in the engineering strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Effective day-to-day management of engineering stores, ensuring parts availability at all times.
- Overseeing and development of stores, inventory, logistics, and planning.
- Purchase stock control and spares management.
- Implementing process improvements and overhaul of all systems and procedures.
- Liaising with suppliers, contractors, and the engineering team.
- Ensuring that all contracts are in place and managed correctly.
- Ensuring contractual agreements are met.
- Being proficient with the stores operating management systems in place within the stores facility and dealing with any issues that may arise.
- Monitoring and promoting health and safety within the site operation, ensuring adherence to Health & Safety Policy at all times.
- Providing ad hoc cover at the site as required.
- Leading by example and providing hands-on support for the sites as required.
- Managing the engineering stock holding, delivering a year-on-year reduction in costs.
- Producing reports for the site engineering team.
Requirements
- An in-depth understanding of engineering stores processes and procedures.
- A robust stock management background, with the ability to identify challenges, resolve quickly, and implement continuous improvement programs.
- Ability to manage site workflows, setting individual tasks and ensuring completion within given set time frames.
- Ability to develop and deliver continuous improvement initiatives so that assigned projects or improvements can be realized.
- Management of a stock control environment; in-depth knowledge of engineering stores & procurement best practices.
- Extensive interpersonal skills with strong communication abilities.
- Experience in managing external suppliers and OEMs.
- Good numerical understanding with experience in budget control.
- Experience in a stores/supply chain/engineering planning role is essential.
- Coming from a mechanical/electrical/manufacturing background is essential.
- Exceptional client relationship management skills are essential.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is essential.
- SAP experience is essential.
- Experience in FMCG is desirable.
