About the Role:

 

  1. To provide strong analytical quality assurance performance management for all quality analysis conducted in the production facility to enable “right first-time” production.  
  2. The role will also develop and lead the site laboratory technicians, establishing, implementing, overseeing, and enforcing quality control standards in the manufacturing or technical production environment.
  3. Ensure legal compliance and on pack claims for products produced at the Beckton site are adhered to and enforced, through adherence to site quality plans by way of audit. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Manage calibration and troubleshooting of all site quality and production equipment. 
  2. Perform equipment maintenance to ensure they are always functional.
  3. Work with External Service partners to ensure external calibration and equipment maintenance is completed as per site equipment maintenance and calibration programs.  Responible for looking after those contracts. 
  4. Oversee the routine analysis of syrup, products and Ingredients used in production, ensuring adherence to site quality plans.
  5. Support the site internal food safety review calendar for all change activities relating to product pack and process.
  6. Follow Good Laboratory Practices, maintain a good working condition of the laboratory, reporting potential risks to Health and Safety and participating in laboratory and factory 7S processes. 
  7. Perform stock checks and ensure reorder levels are maintained.
  8. Drive continuous improvement to site quality performance with a food safety and HACCP bias.
  9. Evaluating food safety risks and implementing best practice improvements through continuous improvement.
  10. Responsible for the development and implementation of good laboratory practise.
  11. Support quality incident investigations including Product traceability, product quarantines, root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and 100-year fix.
  12. Support quality compliance through adherence to the quality management system, auditing, change control and SPC systems. 
  13. Contribute to the development of the site quality plans.

 


Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

 

  1. Proven communication skills with ability to flex styles to differing individual needs.
  2. Proficient with HPLC usage and troubleshooting.
  3. Ability to operate and maintain instruments, including auto titrators, carbo QC, pH Meters, densitometers, HPLC etc.
  4. Strong chemical analytical knowledge from working with in the drinks industry.
  5. Sound knowledge of food production processes.
  6. Computer skills required: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (SAP an advantage).
  7. Well-developed interpersonal skills, specifically relationship building, facilitation, written / verbal communication are essential.
  8. Strong team work skills.
  9. Experience of working with in an FMCG environment preferably within a Quality function is desirable.
  10. Experience in developing, implementation and maintenance of food quality management and auditing.

 


Qualifications:

 

  1. Relevant Degree in chemistry or relevant industry experience.
  2. HPLC trained essential.
  3. HACCP intermediate level desirable
  4. Intermediate Food Hygiene desirable
