Procurement Manager - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

In addition we have an exciting portfolio of premium spirits, beers, ciders and wines exclusive to Counterpoint, meeting the needs of licensed trade within NI.

The Procurement department, based in Antrim Northern Ireland,  is responsible for acquiring the desired goods using best market knowledge, at the best possible total cost of ownership, in the right quantity, of the right quality, at the right time in order to make us the wholesaler of preference. The objective of the role is to manage the development and daily management of an efficient, proactive and cost effective supply base while developing a mature, proactive professional and personal relationship with all suppliers and all internal operational departments to deliver world-class procurement. 

The post holder is responsible for accurate forecasting in line with recent trends, market condition and demand to meet commercial needs. The procurement manager is part of a busy team within a rapidly growing organisation, operating within a challenging industry is responsible for all aspects of Procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key contact for the Northern Ireland business for queries related to suppliers, logistics, sourcing goods and services.You will be responsible for the planning and organisation of the Procurement value stream as well as its overall performance and direction.
  • You will take a hands-on role and be keen to provide the business with the necessary communication, guidance and support on all matters NI Procurement related.
  • Negotiate first class contracts which include competitive pricing, rebates, promotional support, payment terms and exclusivity.
  • Lead product/category reviews to deliver continuous improvement in product range, quality and pricing.
  • You will proactively measure performance to goals and display excellent skills in communicating, exceptions to plans and will develop a strong relationship with all the members of the Management Team and make a significant contribution to Counterpoint NI’s P&L performance.
  • Work closely with the marketing and commercial teams to deliver quarterly promotional activity.
  • Ensure that CP suppliers are compliant with CP ethical trading policy and that our suppliers demonstrate a commitment to meeting our expectations of Corporate Responsibility.
  • Ensure that existing or potential supply sources are evaluated, to meet short and long term requirements. Negotiate supply chain initiatives which improve CP NI’s investment and working capital.
  • Partnering with stakeholders to ensure procurement within predetermined financial limits and adherence to procurement processes.
  • Managing supplier relationships on behalf of CP, facilitating the effective flow of information including industry data between the suppliers and all internal stakeholders.
  • Management of setting up new SKUs with internal stakeholders
  • Communication of new listings to NI Counterpoint Sales & CCC teams.
  • Timely communication of savings to ensure competitive sell through of Company owned, agency and 3rd party goods.
  • Work with 3PL to ensure the required quality and service standards are met or exceeded at all times.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Experience working as a Procurement Manager or Procurement Officer- ideally including exposure to a Field Sales and or Account Management environment.
  • You will be results orientated and be driven to deliver savings on purchase prices, control spend and build a culture of long-term benefits and procurement costs. In partnership with Key CP suppliers develop and deliver JBP.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft packages and stock management systems.
  • Previous experience of compiling Supplier agreements/ JBP & Performance measurement.
  • Strong commercial understanding of local trade environment and channel specifics
  • Proficient at stakeholder management and project management.
  • Working Knowledge of HMRC practices & procedures.
  • Good communicator who has the talent to influence, negotiate and engage the various stakeholders.
  • Good commercial understanding, P&L literacy, aptitude in decision making and strong numerical skills.
  • Experience in collecting, forecasting and analysing data.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.

Qualifications:

  • B2B experience in licensed trade or FMCG in NI would be desirable
