Job Overview
Britvic is seeking a dynamic and compelling Head of Legal & Compliance – Ireland to join our team. In this role, you will have overall responsibility for all legal and compliance matters for our legal entities in the Island of Ireland. You will be the trusted legal advisor, responsible for achieving strategic objectives in the areas of legal and compliance, and serving as the sole Legal Counsel in Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the legal organization creates value, is cost-efficient, and contributes to achieving company objectives while mitigating risks and avoiding damage.
- Implement the Group's legal and compliance agenda in Ireland, aligning with business priorities and ensuring efficiency.
- Manage, coach, and develop employees, setting KPIs and ensuring operational results align with the Group's legal and compliance strategy.
- Responsible for legal spend, reporting to the Western Europe Head of Legal with a dotted reporting line to the COO Ireland.
- Handle all end-to-end legal issues in Ireland, including contracts, marketing, IP, supply chain, sustainability, compliance, training, and property matters.
Requirements
- Proven legal precision, sound judgment, strategic competence, pragmatism, strong analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
- Relevant legal experience in contract law, marketing law, compliance areas (competition law, data protection, anti-bribery & corruption, trade sanctions), and dispute resolution.
- Strong business acumen, determination, and a positive attitude towards action.
- Ability to prioritize, respond to management needs, and position legal services as a business partner.
- Leadership personality, committed team player, trustworthy, ethical role model, international and holistic mindset, embracing diversity of thought.
- Versatile personality, calm, resilient, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Education
Undergraduate Degree (BCL/LL.B. or equivalent) from a recognized university, with a specialization in commercial or compliance law highly desirable. Qualified to practice Law in Ireland. 4-7 years Post Qualification Experience, although any experience will be considered.
Certifications
- Additional qualifications in compliance, data protection (e.g., CIPP/E), or anti-bribery and corruption (e.g., CFE) would be a strong asset.
- Proven proficiency in Irish legal framework and familiarity with EU legal regulations, especially in compliance-related areas.
