Working Hours: Monday - Friday (37.5 hours)

About the Role:
The role is primarily to lead the Direct Tax team to ensure that the company meets all relevant Tax compliance & reporting obligations in the UK and Ireland, manage the company’s tax risks, co-ordinate and provide general tax advice to the company and organise the company’s Tax affairs efficiently.  


You will be working within a small team in a multi-disciplinary role and enjoy a variety of challenging technical areas.


We are looking for an experienced tax leader who combines deep technical capability with visible people-focused leadership and a collaborative partnership-led approach.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Direct Tax team, managing delivery of compliance and reporting obligations and direct tax projects
  • Liaise and build relationships with key stakeholders (CFO, HMRC)
  • Business partnering – explaining tax technical issues to business stakeholders and applying advice in practice
  • Tax strategy and planning including optimisation of tax reliefs 
  • Ownership of the tax risk environment’s control risk framework and SAO reporting 
  • Review and approval of direct tax compliance including GB & Ireland CT Computations and partnership returns
  • Review and approval of other tax technical submissions (Corporate Interest Restriction, Transfer Pricing documentation, RDEC claim, Patent Box)
  • Review and approval of tax accounting and group reporting submissions under FRS101 and IFRS
  • Tax cash and ETR forecasting
  • Planning for loss relief utilisation and minimisation of interest restriction
  • Advice on transfer pricing and review of TP documentation
  • Global minimum tax (BEPS)
  • Tax advice on projects including restructuring and changes in legislation

 

Experience and Key Attributes:

  • Excellent organisational skills and focus on delivery is a must
  • Good project management skills to be able to manage multiple objectives
  • Strong communication is key
  • Broad in-depth UK tax technical knowledge
  • Understanding of Irish tax would be useful but not essential
  • Good experience of tax accounting and reporting at year end under IFRS and local GAAP. 
  • Confident and able to promote the tax function internally across business units and also externally by maintaining good working relationships with external advisors, HMRC and auditors
  • Self-motivated with ability to work autonomously and pro-actively
  • Proven ability to deliver to both internal and external deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and resilient
  • Strong inter-personal skills 
  • Experience of working with or in large/medium sized businesses


Qualifications:

  • ACA/ACCA and/or CTA
  • Degree qualified
