Marketing Controller - White Space Innovation

About the Role:

 

As Marketing Controller for White Space Innovation for Britvic you’ll be responsible for leading the identification, development and delivery of our long range innovation programme, specifically where it relates to creating brand and/or technology led innovation initiatives which sit outside Britvic’s existing capabilities or core categories.

 

Reporting to the R&D Director and working closely with the Britvic Executive team and Marketing Directors you will play a critical role in delivering Britvic’s 2025 growth Mission, where we have identified Innovating to scale through brands and technologies as a key driver of our growth ambition.

 

You will directly lead a multifunctional team, and be accountable for discovering, developing and unlocking insights to turn compelling ideas into reality resulting in significant value growth in existing and new markets.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

 

  1. ESTABLISH AND DEVELOP THE WHITE SPACE INNOVATION PIPELINE: Establish a robust innovation pipeline to deliver ‘new to world’ innovation programmes. Accountable for exploring new thinking and insights to unlock new markets and revenues over a 2-5 year time horizon.

 

  1. DELIVER THE INNOVATION PIPELINE: Deliver brand new options to drive value and growth.  Responsible for supporting local business units to operationalize and commercialise outputs from the Innovation pipeline.  Provide expert knowledge and guidance to business units and work collaboratively as ideas transition from Innovation to local unit.

 

  1. IDENTIFY AGILE TESTING AND DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGIES: In partnership with R&D Innovation and Insights team, pioneer new and rapid ways of developing and proving propositions at low cost in real-world situations.  Develop external strategic partnerships to make this possible.

 

  1. PROVIDE INNOVATION EXPERTISE & GLOBAL LEADERSHIP: Develop a centre of excellence in understanding consumer and customer behaviour, tracking and staying ahead of market trends and R&D activity and unlocking usable insights to drive value for Britvic. 

 

  1. LEADING THE TEAM: Lead as part of the R&D leadership team, engaging with external partners and relevant Britvic teams in the overall vision and direction to ensure success in market place

 

  1. PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITY: Directly accountable for recommending the scope, and deliverables and resource plan with the PLC exec, and then delivering the White Space Innovation programme outcomes.

 

Experience Required:

 

Essential

  • Conceptual creative thinker with a track record of creating great ideas that have driven real value in the market.
  • Ability to translate high-potential emerging consumer needs into growth projects
  • Familiar with working within an innovation operating framework including test and learn
  • Level of maturity and cultural awareness to be able to work effectively, mange stakeholder and build partnerships across different geographies, commercial matrix structures and partners.
  • Proven track record of leading consumer and technical innovation in a FMCG context and experience of developing and driving Innovation programmes.
  • Strong people leader with proven ability to inspire, grow and develop people and drive delivery and accountability within the team.
  • Experience in building strong external networks, partnering with agencies and suppliers to access leading edge thinking and capabilities.

Qualifications:

 

Degree level qualification in a related subject (i.e. Marketing, Economics, Business)
