Product Innovation Technologist



About the Role:

As Product Innovation Technologist for Britvic, you will work closely with the Product Innovation Manager ensure flawless delivery of specific projects within the  annual operating plan (AOP) through project support and leadership of the liquid work streams within the technical research and development team. Your role will involve working closely with other members of the Product Innovation team and our suppliers to test the application of new ingredients to different product categories.

This role offers the opportunity to engage with internal stakeholders, customers and consumers to create future Innovation. You will ensure robust technical liquid expertise is applied with rigor to gain competitive advantage and ensure liquid solutions are delivered right first time.

Our R&D Innovation team consists of a group of highly trained scientists and professionals who are focused on supporting all Britvic business units by delivering a long-term science strategy that is aligned to business strategy and testing & implementing new ways of innovating. The teamwork in close partnership with internal and external experts to ensure world class science is available to Britvic. 


Key Responsibilities: 

Technical liquid development of new soft drinks products from concept to commercialisation
Prototype recipe development to demonstrate application of new ingredients.
Management of finished product testing, through sensory, analytical and shelf-life testing. 
Ensure that all work is carried out accurately and in regulatory compliance with agreed company standards, Quality Management systems and specifications.
Working with the Product Innovation manager to understand the risk profile of the liquid solution and support the active management of recipe and processing risks.
Support liquid scale up and/or implementation of new formulas in our Pilot Plant and external manufacturing facilities.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience: 

Experience working within FMCG technical departments as part of a cross functional team.
Knowledge of beverage formulation, ingredients, sensory and use of laboratory equipment & processing is essential. 
Have an understanding of GMP and local regulations. 
Test plan and methodology creation experience is desired.
Understanding of Sensory Science and Consumer Research is desired.
