About the Role:
As Senior Finance Manager, GB Logistics and Ire Supply Chain Finance Lead, you will provide finance leadership and decision support to the GB demand & supply planning and network logistics teams and the Ireland supply chain leadership team.
You will also be accountable for reporting, analysis and forecasting of costs, as well as being part of the governance and decision making processes, to ensure that we deliver in year performance, balancing service resilience and cost. You will lead the development of key insights to unlock value across Ireland & GB, working closely with both the Ireland and GB Leadership teams to influence and positively impact the outcomes that the supply chain delivers.
The role’s primary base is Hemel Hempstead (circa 1-2 days a week) and will also be required to travel to Ireland circa 2-4 days a month as well as visits to network sites such as the National Distribution Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Performance Management
Provide leadership across all aspects of GB logistics and Ireland supply chain finance, to ensure there is clarity and understanding of the key drivers of performance and the interventions required to unlock further value or mitigate risks to the plan. This will include:
- Timely and accurate monthly reporting and analysis, providing clarity of tracking vs Budget and vs. Outlook and insight into performance issues, enabling action.
- Preparation of a monthly outlook for costs, informed by demonstrated performance, efficiency plans and agreed actions / interventions from the monthly performance cycle
- Provide clear visibility of potential risks and drive action to deliver against opportunities
- Prepare and present ad hoc analysis (Trend analysis, scenario plans) informing ahead of time of a potential issue that requires corrective action.
- Ensure that the appropriate financial controls and processes are in place to ensure robust and timely reporting and continuously drive supply chain finance process improvements
- Calculation of standards for the following calendar year, taking into account efficiency drivers, waste reduction projects and zero loss activities
Work in close partnership with their immediate team of finance managers to deliver the following :
- Ensure Business Partners understand and deliver against key performance indicators that underpin the transport and warehousing plans and cost budgets
- Ownership of a dynamic model that underpins the logistics budget, informed by logistics efficiency KPIs that is updated through out the year in the light of demonstrated performance and progress against improvement and efficiency initiatives
- Play a key role in supporting and driving delivery of efficiency and operational improvement initiatives
- Work with the Commercial Finance team to share insights on cost trends for their respective brands & categories
Strategic planning and Business cases
- Produce robust financial modelling and input to the business case rationale for future expansion plans and efficiency driving projects
- Ensure benefits are embedded in the budget and forecasts and provide visibility of delivery of actuals against the agreed business case
- Prepare post-implementation evaluation, identifying opportunities for value to be restored vs the original plan or over deliver as appropriate
- Develop strategic plan and Annual Operating plans, partnering with Supply chain partners and translate efficiency and productivity and automation opportunities into actionable operational targets .
Value Creation
- Play a hands-on role on supporting both the Ireland Supply Chain Ops team and GB Demand &Supply Planning and Network logistics teams develop strategies to improve capacity, service, quality, health and safety, compliance, efficiency, cost and cash.
- Provide insights to the rest of the business on Ireland Supply Chains Ops Cost, total distribution costs and cost-to-serve, generating ideas for margin improvement
- Champion an evaluation culture to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of critical activities within Manufacturing, Planning, Distribution and Logistics Finance
People Leadership & Influence
- Lead, manage and coach a team of three.
- Coach and support the development of the team, ensuring that development plans are in place and reviewed
- Play part in building a culture in Supply Chain FInance where everyone feels empowered and supported to be their best selves at work
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
- Qualified accountant
- Self starter, able to work under own initiative, identify and then deliver solutions to business and finance problems.
- Ability to prioritise and deliver through the team in a fast paced rapidly changing environment
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and an ability to distil key messages and make recommendations from complex data
- Good engagement and influencing skills, capable of building strong relationships with stakeholders and making things and change happen
- Comfortable with managing a team of people over multiple locations
- Advanced financial modelling skills (Excel)
- Systems: SAP, BBW, SAC
- Background in FMCG and supply chain preferable – retailer or manufacturer
- A self-starter able to work under own initiative
Qualifications:
- Qualified accountant (essential) with experience in FMCG (preferred)
- Previous experience as Distribution Finance Business Partner (preferred)
- Previous experience on SAP (essential) and/or JDE (preferred)
- Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills (preferred)
