About the Role:

Britvic’s Procurement team is responsible for sourcing all the goods and services our business needs to operate. These include our Direct product requirements for Packaging and Ingredients as well as supporting wider business needs for Indirect purchasing for categories that include Capital Equipment, IT, Marketing and HR Services. As a Category Manager (Ingredients) , based in our Hemel Hempstead office, you will combine providing assurance of supply and cost competitiveness for a number key ingredients used in Britvic’s products

This role will require you to work with the wider procurement team, multiple functions (e.g. Technical, Quality and Manufacturing), and an international supply base.

Key Responsibilities:

Category Management

•Understand and develop subject matter expertise for relevant supplier markets through supplier market analysis

•Ability to develop medium to long term buying strategies

•Execute end to end supplier tenders (creating, running and analysing)

Cost savings and value delivery

•Working with stakeholders and budget holders deliver the best possible solutions for Britvic that ensure best value and price have been realised

•Deliver value for money through negotiation and understanding of best market price

•Effective project manager to implement buying strategies and cost out opportunities

Supplier Relationship Management

•Develop and maintain excellent supplier relationships with key suppliers to improve supplier performance and drive value over time through use of SRM tools and techniques, where appropriate

Stakeholder relationships

•Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders across different business units

•Gain trust and support of the wider business to enable procurement best practice to become part of everyday business life.

Maintaining smooth operations of the role

•Purchase within predetermined financial limits to defined quality standards. Ensure that the necessary action is taken where materials do not comply with material specification or delivery requirements through the appropriate mechanism for the portfolio to ensure the day to day operations run smoothly

•Ensure that suppliers are compliant with the agreed ethical trading policy and that our suppliers demonstrate a commitment to meeting our expectations of Corporate Responsibility.

•Ensure smooth transaction of operations through assuring all necessary purchasing and master file data is updated accurately and timely on SAP R3 / Procurement Approved Supplier (PAS) list. and equivalent information to support EBP system where relevant; rationalising and cleansing the relevant supplier base on an on-going basis

•Adherence to the relevant Purchasing Policies and Processes in force, including following the correct delegation of authority and segregation of duties

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

•Understanding of Category Management & SRM principles

•Basic understanding of FMCG market and basic manufacturing experience

•Negotiation skills

•Proficient knowledge of Procurement process e.g. implementation of RFx processes including eSourcing,

•Proficient at stakeholder management and project management

•Good interpersonal skills

•Strong time management and organisational skills

•Experience working across different countries and cultures


•Basic knowledge of SAP

•Proficient use of e-sourcing tools

•Full MS suite

•Ability to use spend analytics tools
