About the Role:
The Channel Finance Manager will be aligned to a particular cluster of customers, and is accountable for the financial delivery, objective performance insight and challenge, and governance of their respective customer cluster. In addition, you will have the following responsibilities:

 

  1. Business partnering the relevant Account Directors, and their teams
  2. Reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and performance insight generation 
  3. Delivering value creation 
  4. Finance continuous improvements (process and understanding)
  5. Working with the Commercial Accounting team to ensure that accounting processes & transactions are accurate 
  6. Input into the design followed by supporting the implementation of any projects that impact their customer cluster
  7. Team development – support development of commercial partners’ financial acumen & other members of the finance team


Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Channel Finance Manager, the role is a business partner to the Account Directors for the relevant customer cluster with the outcome of continuously improving and influencing performance.  In order to successfully achieve this the incumbent has responsibility for: 

 

Delivering the Plan

  1. Provide insight to the Account Directors and their teams on customer performance, including analysis against budget, forecast and prior year with clear provocations to action
  2. Through accurate and insightful reporting on a monthly basis, continually raise awareness of financial performance across the commercial teams. Ensure plans are in place to deliver and where possible exceed budget commitments
  3. Identify risks and opportunities to the commercial delivery of budget and then work with cross-functional partners to ensure these are either mitigated or realised, as appropriate
  4. Support the rolling forecast and budgeting process, ensuring a robust, deliverable plan with clear risks and opportunities identified
  5. Protect the business by ensuring a high level of financial governance and control across all trade investment and capital
  6. Challenge of commercial business partners in support of delivering the best short and long term result for Britvic

 

Leading Value Creation

  1. Champion an ROI improvement culture for all customer investments, covering the full scope of promotion evaluation, customer terms & trade spend, pricing decisions, commercially driven capital spend, etc.
  2. From the strategy through to budget and in year delivery process, identify value creation opportunities through margin, SKU and spend optimisation
  3. Support the evaluation of terms proposals for the relevant customers and the read across for the channel as a whole, including investment prioritisation, post reviews of investment to identify learnings and insights to improve effectiveness and returns from future investments

 

Simplifying processes, systems and data to improve governance

  1. Proactively identify, develop and implement process improvements to drive value for Britvic
  2. Ensure all commercial finance processes are fit for purpose, fully documented and understood by the commercial finance and customer management team
  3. Influence and lead forecasting and budgeting processes, ensuring challenge and insight is applied into the development of plans for future value creation
  4. Champion a governance culture to ensure the adherence to process, effectiveness in the order to cash process, and investment authorisation


Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  1. Strength in analytical reasoning and numerical analysis – able to distil complex financial concepts/ data to non-finance audience
  2. Systems: MS Office, Hyperion, BBW
  3. Broad business and commercial awareness with a strategic mind-set
  4. Ability to engage and influence across a range of business functions, and at senior levels
  5. Ability to take the initiative to deliver business solutions and provide thought leadership
  6. Background in FMCG preferable – retailer or manufacturer


Qualifications:

  1. CIMA qualified with experience (other financial qualifications will also be considered)
  2. Degree level qualification preferred
