About the Role:
A commercial solicitor is required to join the in-house Britvic Legal Team (part of the wider Advisory and Compliance department).
The successful candidate will need to deliver clear and practical legal advice and develop pragmatic and commercially focussed strategies and solutions, providing advice to various functions and business units as required. Providing support to the business and the broader legal team across the full spectrum of contract law and commercial issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review and negotiate a number of commercial contracts (including customer sales contracts, licences, non-disclosure agreements, sponsorship agreements etc.) to best protect the commercial and legal interests of the business and create added value.
- Working with Britvic’s Procurement team and providing legal advice on a wide range of supplier contracts (ingredients, packaging, professional services, IT, logistics, advertising, engineering and maintenance services, equipment supply, data protection agreements) to protect Britvic’s commercial and legal position and minimise risk;
- Work with the brand teams from concept to launch of advertising campaigns and review advertising and marketing materials, promotions, press releases and talent contracts including assessment of risk.
- Continually improve standard contracts and guidance to reflect improvements and changes to processes and legislation.
- Advising on avoiding and managing disputes and advising on strategy for resolution including risk assessment, negotiating settlements, drafting correspondence and preparing for litigation;
- Manage and advise in relation to other ad hoc matters as they occur including employment and low value property matters, consumer care support, company secretarial matters, insolvency and support to the regulatory team.
- Keep abreast of legal updates and sharing with the team and stakeholders as necessary in the form of training sessions, guidance notes etc.
- Support contract transformation project.
- Promote legal best practice and compliance throughout Britvic’s business.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
- English law qualified solicitor with excellent knowledge of Corporate & commercial law, with experience from a leading law firm or in house
- Ability and desire to work as a true business partner, capable of contributing to strategic and commercial discussions with the business more widely than legal input
- Excellent written and communication skills with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
- Self-motivated, proactive and confident with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to drive initiatives forward to conclusion
- Good numeracy and commercial understanding
- Good analytical skills with the ability to identify the key legal and business considerations and provide targeted, pragmatic and solutions-driven advice and recommendations
- Well organised and able to prioritise conflicting pressures and multiple stakeholders
- Business orientated with a desire to influence and proactively engage with all areas of the business
- Acts with the highest levels of integrity and in accordance with ethical, legal and compliance standards
