About the Role:
Part time 12 hours a week 9.30am – 12.30pm 4 days a week

 

As an R&D Sensory Panellist, you will be part of Britvic’s Research & Development team within the Consumer Sensory Science branch. You will embark on a thrilling journey of sensory training, playing a pivotal role in shaping the taste profiles of our diverse range soft drinks. Your keen palate and astute sensory perception will be instrumental in ensuring that every sip of our product delivers an enjoyable sensory experience.

 

The data generated by your work will be used to support key business decisions such as product optimisation, supplier approval and shelf life.

 

A typical day involves sampling soft drinks from a range of our brands and assessing various attributes, such as sweetness, sourness, and the delivery of fruit flavours as part of a team.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engages in product testing by providing detailed descriptions of various drink products, assessing their appearance, aroma, flavour, mouthfeel, and aftertaste. 
  2. Recognises and learns these attributes and rating them accurately and reliably using the prescribed scales and scale references.
  3. Actively participates and collaborates in Descriptive panel discussions describing product attributes, attribute definitions, use of scale and scale references.
  4. Responsible for completely and accurately entering own product scoring data into ballots, either on paper or via iPad using specialist sensory software
  5. Following instructions on sample evaluation, use of scale and ballot completion given by the Panel leader.
  6. Participate in product and sensory related training, and successfully applying this learning to the day to day job 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  1. Able to commit to a long-term, part-time opportunity based in Hemel Hempstead
  2. Can work 4 days per week for 3 hours each morning
  3. Are passionate about working with some of Britain’s best loved brands
  4. Demonstrates a keen interest in acquiring knowledge about products and sensory evaluation, while also possessing the confidence to express opinions and perceptions effectively
  5. Have no allergies, medical conditions or dietary restrictions which may impede evaluation ability
  6. Would love to taste and evaluate products as part of the day to day job
