Job Overview
As a Stability Lead Technologist at Britvic, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, safety, and consistency of our products throughout their lifecycle. Reporting directly to the Head of Quality Control and Analytical, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing stability protocols. You will lead efforts to validate the stability of new formulations, ingredients, and the impact of innovative processing techniques on both raw materials and final products.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage stability testing trials for new product launches, including planning storage and testing through sensory, analytical, and micro tests.
- Create a new database of stability results and perform statistical analysis to develop predictive modeling capabilities.
- Build internal knowledge of product stability and identify ways for improvement.
- Select, adapt, and create appropriate methods and techniques for stability testing of ingredients, finished products, and implications of new processing conditions, including accelerated methodologies.
- Build relationships with ingredient and equipment suppliers to enhance knowledge on stability testing and product shelf life, ensuring all equipment is functional and maintained.
- Carry out appropriate tests and analysis using various methods and techniques to support product development technologists and managers in creating cutting-edge liquids.
- Establish strategic business relationships with subject matter and technical experts, ensuring our stability program is industry-leading.
- Collaborate with innovation, product development, and pilot plant teams to ensure efficient novel ingredient and new finished product processing and scale-up.
- Support innovation projects from various teams, ensuring new applications meet the AOP.
- Communicate benefits of developed technologies internally and externally through clear and concise oral and written communications.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with Suppliers, Universities, and Research Institutes.
- Ensure all stability equipment SOPs and other documentation are up-to-date and aligned with the wider product development team.
- Ensure all work is carried out accurately and in compliance with agreed company standards, Quality Management systems, and specifications.
- Oversee and support Stability Technologists to conduct ongoing stability testing, planning, assessor training, and lead prioritization with project teams.

- Strong understanding of basic scientific techniques and good scientific practice.
- Working knowledge of food and beverage raw materials, production techniques, and use of laboratory-based equipment.
- Demonstrable experience within a food or beverage development environment (Liquid development, formulations, sensory, and processing experience is desirable).
- Working knowledge of IT systems such as MS Office is essential.
- Able to coach, manage, and prioritize workload for team members.
- Experience in recipe management systems is desirable.
- Self-starter capable of working independently to manage time, source materials, and run laboratory tests required.
Education/Qualification
Degree and/or A levels in science, microbiology, or a food science-related subject. Food processing experience, test plan and methodology creation experience, and statistical analysis experience are essential.
