Job Overview

 

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Site Engineering Manager to lead our maintenance program at Britvic's complex beverage manufacturing site. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring all site assets, including manufacturing equipment, utilities, and facilities, meet specific site and legislative requirements. Your technical expertise will be crucial in driving quick resolutions to any issues that may arise, safeguarding customer service, safety, and quality standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Supply Chain Maintenance Strategy, ensuring effective implementation of asset care plans and adherence to maintenance schedules for complex beverage manufacturing lines.
  • Collaborate with site leaders and technical staff to assess the effectiveness of the maintenance plan, identify essential technical training needs, and drive performance improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all Engineering, facilities, utilities, safety, and environmental legislation, fostering a safety-first culture and establishing safe working practices.
  • Identify opportunities for improving machine efficiency and reliability through the maintenance plan or Continuous Improvement projects, providing guidance and sharing best practices.
  • Engage with Continuous Improvement teams, working on key projects to drive site performance and assist in company improvement initiatives, including technical projects with budgetary/CAPEX experience.
  • Plan and prepare asset care interventions with a focus on quality and speed of execution, ensuring efficient line recovery from maintenance activities.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and growth of our apprentice program.
  • Establish and enforce policies, ensuring all staff meet quality standards while maintaining safe working conditions.
  • Utilize analytics and condition-based monitoring to improve cost efficiency, reduce reactive maintenance, and drive energy/machine spares initiatives.
  • Devise and implement site delivery plans for energy, water, consumables, effluent, and gas, leveraging digital energy data.
  • Lead the maintenance managers and facilities/utilities managers, transitioning the site from reactive to predictive through the use of analytics and digital tools, identifying efficiency and cost-saving projects.
  • Coach shift-based engineers to increase skill base and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

 

  • Substantial engineering experience in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods environment or similar high-volume environment is essential.
  • Strong people leadership skills and the ability to integrate differing functional demands.
  • Proven experience in managing significant budgets and material value throughput is highly desirable.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering, HSE processes, and legislation.
  • Familiarity with HR policies and procedures is desirable.

Qualifications

 

  • An Engineering apprenticeship and/or degree-level education or equivalent experience is preferred.
