About the Role:
 

To work with operations teams to achieve the required quality, safety, and environmental standards. To lead Quality & Operational Improvement Projects. To contribute towards achieving required targets, objectives, legislative requirements, franchise, and company standards, through effective control, operation and maintenance of plant and processes. Deputise the role of Quality Manager.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:
 

Management Systems, Audit & Governance

  1. Ensures implementation, compliance and maintenance of Britvic quality, food safety, health & safety and environmental policies, standards (ISO/OHSAS/FSSC/AIB/Good Practices), certification to standards (where applicable), requirements, procedures and legal compliance within the operations teams. 
  2. Implements and supports external audit program, schedule, conduct and support annual internal audit program.  Maintain corrective action log including development of plans, close out of actions and reporting.
  3. Implementation, formalisation, and documentation of quality processes within Kylemore site.
  4. Co-ordinate and maintain quality programs such as proficiency, water testing with Central and external agencies.
  5. Coordinate all activities to prevent and control all non-conformances through quality processes including SAP. Coordinate all QSE incident investigations to establish root cause and corrective and preventive action.
  6. Proactively identify, review, and take ownership for improvement opportunities as required through technological and process developments.

 

Business Support & Data Analysis 

  1. Ensure laboratory facilities are maintained in a hygienic condition including maintenance of equipment and sterilisation of lab equipment where required.
  2. Coordinate syrup trials and projects involving new formulations/ingredients including laboratory testing support and programming of systems where applicable.
  3. Assess risk and possible influence of processes and/or changes in processes on quality and food safety for different categories of products including annual HACCP review and verification.
  4. Validate and verify all process and quality control equipment including management of 3rd party calibration schedule and maintain supporting documentation and data.
  5. Support and maintain the site Pest Control Program as required by company standards.
  6. Support the consumer/customer complaints process and coordinate actions on resolution to ensure consumer/customer satisfaction and avoid repeat failures.
  7. Support and drive continuous improvement and quality support for trials, projects and development activities.
  8. Proactively advise and support the operations teams and leadership on QSE and Food Safety issues
  9. Implement and maintain data tracking and trending systems for KPI reporting in a timely manner.
  10. Coordinate supplier’s quality assurance (SQA) and related trials to minimise issues on quality or operational performance within the site.

 

People Development and Training

  1. Develop clear and effective working relationships within QSE team and wider teams to ensure effective delivery of function and business requirements.
  2. Provide coaching, training, and information to enable employees to deliver their safety, environmental, quality and food safety role requirements to a competent level.
  3. Supporting QSE specialists with teamwork and shared goals to achieve factory objectives.

 

People Management

  1. Manage the team of Quality Coordinators ensuring compliance to all aspects of their role.
  2. Manage annual/absence leave ensuring that shift cover is always available.
  3. Develop and maintain regular 1:1 meeting with your team members.
  4. Develop and maintain a positive working culture with your team.
  5. Ensuring your team members have Performance Management and Personal Development goals set that align with the business needs.

 

Quality & Operational Improvement Projects

  1. Identify and scope out projects that will drive continuous improvements with a quality focused lens – CCR, RFT Improvements & Quality Culture.
  2. Identify and scope out projects that will optimise process operations. 
  3. Be the Quality Lead for Operation Driven Projects – TPM, OEE through building relationships with OEM’s and department leads – Quality Lead for project management, Standards Confirmation, and data analysis.
  4. Be the Quality Lead for RCA’s, working with Operation Shift Managers, Continuous Improvement teams to implement sustainable corrective action plans.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  1. In depth knowledge and experience in quality, food safety, microbiology, safety or environmental role, preferably in an FMCG environment with a good knowledge of production processes and packaging
  2. Operations and project management experience
  3. Implementation of QSE processes and standards
  4. Knowledge of ISO/OHSAS/FSSC/Good Practice Standards
  5. Analytical quality skills ideally related to soft drinks.
  6. Knowledge of all relevant areas of food and water legislation and related microbiological issues
  7. Effective communication with external agencies, trading standards and auditing bodies
  8. Incident investigation through use of continuous improvement tools for root cause and prevention
  9. Experience of working within continuous improvement programmes relating to QSE

 


Qualifications:

  1. Third level education in food science, manufacturing, quality or related discipline
  2. Food Safety Certification  
  3. Internal auditor qualification
  4. HACCP qualification 
  5. Competency in health safety and environment requirements for manufacturing 
  6. Excellent computer skills in particular advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
