Job Overview

 

As an Asset Care Engineer at Britvic, you will play a crucial role in delivering world-class engineering excellence. You will be responsible for fault resolution, maintenance standards, and promoting the delivery of site scorecard measures. Continuous improvement and best practice delivery of mechanical and electrical standards will be key, along with maintaining manufacturing equipment, building infrastructure, building services, and utilities provision using coordinated corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance techniques. Through your efforts, you will minimize equipment failure downtime and mitigate the impact of catastrophic failures on the site's manufacturing capability.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Carry out duties responsibly, adhering to Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality procedures, and contributing to the health and safety of yourself and others.
  • Comply with Legal and Statutory Requirements, including PUWER, Electricity at Work, DSEAR, PSSR, COSHH, LOLER, CDM, Asbestos, Ionising Radiation, Confined Spaces, and Work at Height.
  • Promote a safe working environment by ensuring full compliance with Britvic SHE and LOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out) processes and policies, including Permit to Work.
  • Carry out planned maintenance tasks as part of the CMMS (SAP PM).
  • Perform modular maintenance tasks across the site, where applicable (e.g., Can and/or PET filling valves, etc.).
  • Populate SAP PM as required, communicate errors or amendments, and ensure spare parts are correctly booked out.
  • Carry out shut down work (as part of weekly asset care windows and annual planned maintenance outages), including working with external suppliers and service providers.
  • Support internal and external insurance/statutory inspections as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

  • Practical Engineering/Technical experience with a proven track record of maintenance service delivery.
  • Extensive experience working in a strategic, target-driven manufacturing environment measured by robust Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Extensive experience providing technical expertise for completing Intrusive Planned & Preventative Maintenance Schedules (PPM's), HACCP studies, and audits.
  • Working knowledge and application experience of delivering specific Health, Safety & Environmental legislation, including Food Safety.
  • Extensive experience with Safety Systems utilizing Isolation and Lock-Out, Tag-Out procedures, Risk Assessment, and Permit to Work.
  • Considerable production line experience, preferably within an FMCG environment.
  • Experience in the operation/maintenance of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • Experience in process control, including instrumentation control loops (including PID control).
  • Experience in interrogation and fault finding on PLCs (Siemens S7) and process control loops (SCADA PID control).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication & negotiation skills.
  • IT literate, including MS Word & MS Excel.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with a track record of focused improvement.

Qualifications

 

  • Candidates must be qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3 and preferably possess an HNC (both in a relevant Engineering discipline), or equivalent. Ideally, they will be multi-disciplined (mechanical, electrical, controls, automation, software), with a time-served apprenticeship background in a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) desirable.
  • Knowledge and demonstration of the relevant Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental aspects (including Food Safety).
