About the Role

 

To lead the Food safety & Quality and HSE agenda at site and ensure compliance with Britvic QSE Standards and Franchise partner requirements. 
To lead development and implementation of the Britvic Quality and Food Safety requirements on site in line with the supply chain strategy and in partnership with site chain leadership teams.   
To support site quality & manufacturing teams in championing quality & safety culture and driving continued improvement projects


Key Responsibilities

 

  1. Drive strategy for Quality & Safety key performance indicator improvements such as decrease in Consumer Complaint Ratios and Lost time accident frequency in collaboration with manufacturing teams.
  2. Own the FS&Q and H&S culture action plans for site. (site consists of 400 people, 23 acres, 9 high speed lines, 33000 FG pallet spaces, 6000 raw mats spaces, volume capacity of 750,000 units (cans/bottles) per hour circ. 1 billion litres annually) 
  3. Manage the budgetary and resource requirements within Quality and Safety teams on site. 
  4. Actively work on the capability development and provides coaching to site-based Quality & Safety Teams.
  5. Represent or delegate to ensure commitment of attendance to PLC functional forum meetings to share best practice learnings.
  6. Develop and supply operational solutions including fit for purpose processes, tools and training which can be called upon to support implementation of quality development plans at site.
  7. Lead the progression and continued accreditation for 3rd Party audits including Pepsico, AIB, FSSC, ISO and customer audits for Quality, Safety and Environmental Management.
  8. Lead the addressing of long-term quality performance issues including co-ordinating and collaborating with Operational teams on manufacturing capability development and improvement projects.
  9. Be the top level of commitment to Food Safety through owning the Risk assessments and HACCP implementation at site and coordinating the necessary quality control and verification activity requirements.   
  10. Support change control strategy at site and maintain traceability of concessions and robust decisions around risks and opportunities management.
  11. Support critical issue resolution through Britvic incident management process as required.
  12. Respond to, lead root cause analysis, and deliver solutions to non-conforming work or identified hazards.
  13. Maintain an up-to-date perspective of best practice through external benchmarking / data gathering
  14. Primary responsibility for the relationship with site related regulatory bodies associated with Quality / Food Safety and HSE Authorities (including EHO’s, EA and HSE)
  15. Identify required competency frameworks for quality, safety and operational teams on site to ensure compliance with the required standards and in line with Britvic requirements.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

 

  1. Experience in a QSE Management role in food based FMCG industry, including experience at a manufacturing site (in a quality management or equivalent role) is essential.
  2. Detailed working knowledge and understanding of QSE Management systems including HACCP, ISO 9001 / 22000, BRC, AIB or other is essential.
  3. Working knowledge of Raw Material (ingredient, fruit and pack) and Laboratory techniques (analytical, micro and pack) is essential.
  4. Working knowledge of Beverage Manufacturing including canning, aseptic bottling and associated liquid processing is preferable.
  5. Proven leadership/people management skills are essential.
  6. Detailed knowledge of quality improvement / problem solving techniques such as RCA, SPC, FMEA is essential.

 

Qualifications

 

  1. Degree level education or above.
  2. Quality & Food Safety qualifications such as Advanced HACCP, Advanced Food Hygiene and Lead Auditor.
  3. Safety qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH and registered practitioner.
