Job Overview
At Carlsberg Britvic, we are seeking a dynamic and committed Reliability Engineer to join our team at the Rugby site. This role is crucial in delivering exceptional performance on our Canning Lines through continuous improvement and best practice implementation. As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and deploying a world-class engineering environment that promotes the delivery of site scorecard measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and deployment of the Engineering department's vision and strategic plan, focusing on energy, equipment, and maintenance strategies that support the site's progression and development in line with the Britvic Work System (BWS).
- Ensure production machinery adheres to all Health and Safety, and Environmental standards, promoting a culture of safety through effective leading KPIs, risk assessments, hazard elimination, and proper use of PPE.
- Collaborate with Operational core teams to improve key business results, develop engineering skills and knowledge, and promote a professional manufacturing team culture and site-wide maintenance strategy to minimize Equipment Failure Downtime (EFD) and catastrophic failure.
- Maintain effective relationships with site operational teams, providing clear communications, resolutions, and escalation plans, while promoting culture change within the engineering department and collaboration between other Britvic Supply chain sites.
- Aid in delivering robust planned maintenance programs, sharing knowledge, writing SOPs, and delivering training plans to engineering teams and operations.
- Provide engineering reactive support to deliver higher levels of operational performance and efficiencies, working alongside Technical Trainers, CI, Maintenance Manager to drive Autonomous Maintenance and Preventative Routine Maintenance activities on production lines.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
- Practical Engineering / Technical / Facilities Maintenance experience with a proven track record of maintenance service delivery.
- Extensive experience in providing technical expertise for completing Intrusive Planned & Preventative Maintenance Schedules (PMs), HACCP studies, and audits.
- Working knowledge and application experience of delivering specific Health, Safety & Environmental legislation.
- Extensive experience in Safety Systems to manage work of internal resources and external contractors utilizing Isolation / Lock-off procedures, Risk Assessment, and Permit to Work.
- Considerable production line experience, preferably within a fast-moving FMCG environment.
- Experience in the maintenance of complex Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Man Machine Interfaces (MMI), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
- Strong interpersonal, communication & negotiation skills.
- IT literate, including proficiency in MS Word & Excel.

Qualifications
- Essential: Minimum HNC/HND and/or equivalent qualifications in an applicable engineering or technical discipline as an alternative to a degree, supported by documentary evidence and coupled with transferable experience in a similar role.
- Essential: Applicable and transferable experience as an alternative to being Time-Served, supported by documentary evidence and a track record of success.
- Essential: Extensive experience working within a strategic, target-driven manufacturing environment measured by robust Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to deliver maximum Operational Effectiveness.
- Essential: Extensive experience working in partnership with manufacturing operations to drive maximum site output; daily, periodic, and annual planning/delivery of maintenance activity including delivery of strategic project, continuous improvement, and new product development activity.
- Essential: Good communication skills with experience working cross-functionally, with internal peers, and managing external suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
- Essential: IT literate; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP.
- Essential: Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems within a production environment.
- Desirable: A background of FMCG experience or similar regulated environment with demonstrable and transferable skills, preferably within a Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement environment.
- Desirable: Management of a stock control environment; knowledge of engineering stores, procurement, and budget control provision and best practices.
- Desirable: Knowledge of utilities, waste stream, and environmental services provision, including best practices for energy and waste cost reduction (Electricity, Gas, Water, Steam, Air, Effluent, Land Fill, and Recyclable Waste Streaming).
- Desirable: Experience in phasing of Corrective, Preventative, and Predictive maintenance activity, following a 52-week maintenance plan.
