Site Operations Manager

About the Role:

  • To devise and implement site delivery plans for the business unit , people and processes, within the context of the overall Manufacturing strategy and aligning the delivery requirements of the Operations Development, Demand and Supply Planning, and Network Execution departments
  • To lead the multi-functional site business unit teams to deliver optimum use of resources, that ensure the site delivers productivity, quality, cost, service and safety objectives in an environment of high morale and engagement
  • Financial Span of Control
  • Opex costs attributed to the business unit

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of the manufacturing vision and the strategic plan to support achievement
  • Devise and agree site delivery plans with key stakeholders for Continuous Improvement, Reliability, Quality, Safety, Innovation, Engineering, Capital, Resourcing, and People
  • Manage fulfilment of delivery plans ensuring resources are appropriately deployed to meet key operational requirements of;

Safety

  • Create a safety first culture by establishing a safe working environment, safe working practices and safety conscious behaviours amongst all employees.
  • Suitable assessment and control of risk including maintenance and practice of continually addressing and reviewing of the risk register
  • Management of external safety relationships with government authorities, customers and other interested stakeholders as a Senior Manager of site
  • Accountable for safety across the business unit; providing appropriate guidance, leadership and responsible for safety in the warehouse with direct responsibilities for safety in the factory

Productivity

  • Cost effective labour utilisation and flexing to volume
  • Line yield development through speed enhancement, changeover time reduction and none productive time minimisation
  • Wastage elimination through prime material yield
  • Primary energy and utility efficiency

Quality

  • Effective implementation of quality plans, standard operating procedures to deliver right first time and consumer complaint reduction
  • Development of process capability (measured through SPC) to provide greater product consistency and trade sample compliance to specifications
  • Effective legislative compliance & external audit delivery

Cost

  • Develop and fulfil stretching budget demands for the business unit establishing and maintaining appropriate financial management and review
  • Deliver continuous improvement in site costs to reduce unit cost

  • Fulfilment of line performance / reliability expectations against the planned yield rates supporting product availability to service delivery
  • Maintenance of schedule adherence to ensure expected product mix is supplied

People

  • Provide suitable environment, training, development and culture to build people capability
  • Build technical and functional skills within the site effectively utilising programmes and materials from the Operational Excellence support.
  • Enhance the value of the collective effort through establishment of high performing teams and through the development of local trust index (Great Places to Work)
  • Embed Company Purpose, Vision, Values and Behaviours within the site aligned to driving a 'one Britvic' way of operating where all employees play in position but understand the total goal of the organisation
  • Manage effective employee relations and Union relationships

  • Role model - Key activities to drive year on year improvement to ‘Trust Index’ targets within our Great Place To Work

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Substantial operational experience in a Fast Moving Consumer Goods environment or similar high volume automated environment is essential
  • Strong people leadership skills and ability to integrate differing functional demands is essential
  • Strong people management skills with ability to flex styles to differing individual and environmental needs is essential
  • Experience of managing significant budgets and material value throughput is highly desirable
  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing and HSE process and legislation is essential
  • Sound knowledge of HR policies and procedures is desirable

Qualifications:

  • Degree level education in Engineering or Science or equivalent experience preferable
