General Accounting Manager - International

About the Role:
The role is responsible for leading the International general accounting team within Finance Shared Services, operating key financial controls and ensuring delivery of timely and accurate reporting to the business.
Specifically:
- Manage the team to deliver robust accounting and reporting of financial information across Britvic’s International business unit
- Undertake development of appropriate systems and controls to enable efficient production of financial information, free from manual adjustments allowing ‘one version of the truth’
- Be the champion of balance sheet controls, ensuring accurate and complete balance sheet reconciliations and balance sheet reviews
Key Responsibilities:
Periodic
- Ensure accuracy, completeness and robustness of financial information included in the periodic Management Information Packs (MIP) and full year/half year statutory disclosure packs for International (EMEA, Americas and Singapore)
- Ensure all financial information reflects the underlying financial records of the business, complies with group requirements and provide insight to the business
- Ensure accurate reporting on 16 international P&L channels.
- Manage senior management expectations to minimise surprises and/or audit issues
- Manage journal reviews, balance sheet reconciliation process and balance sheet scorecard
- Minimise number of manual adjustments by understanding and improving processes underpinning the SAP and BPC financials such that data flows freely between systems
- Collate and review MIPs and disclosure packs, ensuring completeness, accuracy and consistency within the packs
- Manage production of insightful P&L, BS and CF analysis and reporting
- Ensuring SAP, BPC and SAC reconciling for month end reporting
- Manage the end-to-end process of fixed costs reporting for the International businesses
- Support team with A&P reporting.
- Support the Intercompany process between Britvic France and EMEA
- Support FP&A with working capital for International
- Support business partners with analysing and reconciling data within the various systems
- Providing International FD with monthly balance sheet commentary and comfortability around financial statements
Budget/forecasting
- Manage the forecasting for fixed costs periodically across all International
- Create and produce the fixed costs budget annually with the support of business partners
- Support business partners during the periodic and annual forecasting with
Cash
- Support business partners in delivering currency forecasts and short-term cash forecasting to Treasury
Business partnering
- Manage the team’s interactions with finance business partners
- Be seen as a key finance figure within the International team and be able to make business decisions
- High level of interaction with PLC finance and shared services teams on all reporting
- Building relationships across multiple business areas with the GB, Americas, Netherlands, and Asia teams
- Key contact for internal Tax teams
- Key contact for external auditors, managing audit requests and responses
Audit and control
- Continuous improvement of period end close processes, MIP preparation processes and presentations
- Reduce amount of manual intervention required such as journal corrections, manual adjustments and creation/use of manual reports
- Responsible for preparation of/providing information for the statutory accounts
- Manage the team during user acceptance phases of system changes and/or upgrades
- Manage the team’s development and progression.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
- Post-qualified experience in a FMCG environment – preferable
- Experience of managing a team
- High level of technical accounting competence
- Strong analytical and interpretative skills
- Organisational skill set to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Ability to identify issues, be proactive and subsequently problem solve through to resolution
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver quality output in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written. Able to clearly articulate finance concepts to non-finance colleagues
- Familiarity with process for preparation of statutory accounts and disclosure requirements
- Systems: BPC, SAP R3, SAC, MS Office, Onesource
- Systems and process improvement experience - preferable
Qualifications:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA preferred but other financial qualifications will also be considered)
