We have operations in Great Britain, Ireland, France & Brazil and have been taking our brands around the world, exporting to over 50 countries and working with carefully chosen partners to franchise our brands. 
About the Role:
The person in this role is responsible for the robust accounting and reporting of financial information across GB, Ireland, International and Head Office.
 
The role:
  • Completion and submission of VAT returns, EC sales lists and Intrastat returns
  • Completion and submission of Sugar Tax Returns 
  • Completion and submission of Plastic Packaging tax returns, including the Netherlands Annual Packaging return
  • Supports in the delivery of robust financial and management information with regards to Indirect Tax
  • Responsible for producing quality balance sheet reconciliations with adequate supporting documentation
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement to improve efficiency and control
  • Train, support and develop Indirect Tax Analysts
 
Key Responsibilities:
Periodic
  • Detailed analysis and review of underlying tax data
  • Assists in ensuring the group meets its indirect tax compliance reporting obligations 
  • Monitoring and feedback on indirect tax compliance within the Shared Service Centre and Wider Finance Community
  • Monitoring of Indirect tax thresholds
  • Complete full balance sheet reconciliations ensuring balances are fully supported with adequate documentation
  • Supporting process improvements and alignment with Personal tax reporting requirements
 
Business partnering 
  • Work closely with GB, Ireland and International Finance to ensure reporting is timely and accurate
  • Work with the Tax Departments to ensure compliance on submissions
  • Feedback on KPIs around irrecoverable Indirect tax
 
Audit and control
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to improve efficiency and control
  • Supporting of any external Indirect Tax audits and reviews
  • Support senior management and/or prepare and provide supporting material for external audit
  • Perform user acceptance testing during system upgrades 
 
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a VAT compliance role, including the preparation and submission of various Indirect Tax returns
  • A good understanding of basic VAT rules   
  • Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles
  • Strong analytical and interpretative skills
  • Ability to identify issues, be proactive and subsequently problem solve through to resolution
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver quality output in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written. Able to clearly articulate finance concepts to non-finance colleagues
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Systems: SAP, MS Office - preferable
