About the Role:

The person in this role supports the Head of Financial Control and the Head of Indirect Tax to deliver the detailed analysis of the indirect tax areas.

The role holder will lead the production and review of the indirect tax returns across GB, Ireland and International entities as required as well as, providing regular monitoring and oversight of indirect tax processes in the Group,
providing guidance, training and Indirect Tax support across all Finance Teams and identifying opportunities for process improvement to improve efficiency and control.

Key Responsibilities;


  • Producing the detailed analysis behind the Indirect tax returns 
  • Performs the first level reviews of the Indirect tax return work before technical final approval by the Head of Indirect Tax
  • Performing ongoing monitoring of key indirect tax risk areas
  • Owning the delivery of process improvements over the indirect tax areas
  • Posting and reviewing indirect tax journals
  • Performing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations over indirect tax accounts

Audit and control:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to improve efficiency and control
  • Support senior management and/or prepare and provide supporting material for external audit
  • Perform user acceptance testing during system upgrades 
  • Responsible for providing additional material for any required indirect tax audits
  • Responsible for ongoing training on Indirect Tax across Finance

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Solid understanding of indirect taxes
  • Strong analytical and interpretative skills
  • Ability to identify issues, be proactive and subsequently problem solve through to resolution
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver quality output in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written. Able to clearly articulate finance concepts to non-finance colleagues
  • Essential Systems experience:
  • Advanced Excel, MS Office, (SAP: Highly desirable)
